As promised in my last post from the confetti flower fields, today I'm sharing a few tips about how we go about taking photos in flower fields.  Plus, these are some other photos we took while we were there.

I'm wearing a great dress from Free People, the red really popped!

Get Low

The key technique for getting great flower fields photos (whether confetti, lavender or poppy) is for the photographer to get low.

The taller the flowers, the easier it is, however you still need to get low to get the perspective of really being deep in the flowers.

Bokeh That Bokeh
The bright flowers in any flower field are perfect for using bokeh to add depth and interest to your shots.

The photographer should position themselves behind some flowers and get to it.  Or even better, find a stem or two that has fallen on to the ground and hold it in front of the lens to get some beautiful effects.

It's Not Just About Technique...
It's also about being tactical about when you visit flower fields too!

You want to pick a day which is not too sunny - avoid as much direct sunlight as possible and although it might be counter-intuitive an overcast day with visible clouds is even better.

If you have the option of visiting at Golden Hour - TAKE IT.  Unfortunately these fields weren't open that late.

Some Camera Tips
I'm not a camera expert, so this is just a few basics.
Shoot on RAW
Use a prime lens with a wide aperture and low f-stop.
Shoot slightly underexposed to keep the sky and clouds in, which you can make pop during editing

I hope these were a few useful photo tips in flower fields in general and the Confetti Flower Fields in particular.

However, if you want the full experience we could try to talk Matt into doing some shoots at the field next year with a photographers pass, any takers? ;)
