Kallur Lighthouse Hike

The Kallur Lighthouse hike was a highlight of our trip to the Faroe Islands, but it included a bit of logistical planning to get there!

Kallur is on the northern island of Kalsoy, which you get to via ferry from Klaksvik.  Be aware that the ferry is tiny and can only take about 15 cars on it - we queued in plenty of time for the ferry but still didn't get on it.  However, the ferry company decided to put on an extra bonus ferry on to take another load of people which we got on.  However, I don't know if that's regular occurrence.

Home to appropriately 150 people, Kalsoy has a lot to see but the most popular thing to see is the lighthouse at Kallur via a hike of 1-1.5 hours.

The hike was a pretty easy hike - both in terms of difficulty and navigation.

It isn't a steep hike and the path is quite easy to follow, you just go on the sheep trails until you hit the lighthouse!

When you get to the lighthouse you can enjoy the views of the lighthouse and the cliff edge and the lighthouse.  Unfortunately we didn't get the "iconic" lighthouse photograph as that involved going down a slightly dodgy looking path.  We had a lot of cloud cover and the wind was strong, so we decided to be sensible and not risk it!
