Ben Lomond Hike - Munro Bagging

 

So one of the perks of moving back up to Scotland was that we can do more outdoorsy things again, including hiking!  So we decided to also start bagging munros.

In case you don't know munros are the 282 mountains in Scotland which are over 3000ft in height.

One of the easier ones to start with is Ben Lomond, so that's the one we started with! 

Some Ben Lomond facts: 

Ben Lomond is 974m high and it is on the bank of Loch Lomond - which means that although the path is well defined and not too steep, you do have to climb the full height as you are starting at sea level! 

I'm not going to go through the whole route (unless you would want to), but here are our pictures from the hike.  

I would say it is a pretty straightforward hike, the path is well defined and if you are in the spring/summer months you shouldn't need a map.  However, I would remind you to dress for all weathers - just because it is sunny at the bottom it won't be sunny at the top! As you can see from the photos we really had all weather during the hike - and we did see a lot of people very underdressed for the hills.
