Gasadalur - Mulafossur

One of the best decisions we made in planning our trip to the Faroe Islands (full itinerary here) was how we visited Gasadalur and Mulafossur straight after we got off the plane!

The village of Gasadalur is only 11km from the airport, which is about an 18 minute drive through a mountain tunnel.

The main attraction of Gasadalur is the Mulafossur waterfall, which is on your immediate left once you enter the village.  Don't park on the roadside, there are dedicated parking spaces in the village with a public toilet.

It's about a five minute walk from the parking space back to the turn off, then another five minutes to the viewing spot.

The viewing spot is perfectly set up for shooting across this slice of the Atlantic ocean to the Mulafossur waterfall.  We visited on a particularly nice day, so although the sky is a wonderful blue the water isn't as dramatic as we would have liked.

The best photos I've seen of this waterfall look to be taken on hellish days - with dramatic waves in the sea and the waterfall almost horizontal!

But whatever the weather, this is definitely worth a visit if you are in the Faroe Islands - and it is probably one of the quickest and easiest things to see!
