Camel racing is a big deal in the UAE, like a super big deal with big money involved. When we visited we hoped to catch a race but unfortunately the timings didn't work out.
However, we did stop in at the Al Marmoon Race Track and did a drive-by style visit. We stopped in and did a loop and even spotted the elite Dubai Camel Hospital (for all your camel vet needs).
A fun camel racing fact for you - there isn't a jockey on the camels when they race. There is a special robot jockey, which the camel trains with on and learns to respond to it. It's a speaker which the trainer can shout commands through and activate a "whip" to give the camel a boost. In real time the support team drives in pickups next to the track, shouting commands through the robot!
Isn't that fun?
It's worth ten minutes to do a drive-through I'd say
