Did you know that the botanic gardens at the University of Oxford is the oldest botanic garden in the whole of the UK?

It's one of the oldest scientific gardens in the world, being founded in 1621.  Isn't that crazy?!

I visited the Botanic Gardens a couple of months ago, I had no idea it was tucked away in the city centre of Oxford by the canal.

The gardens are pretty small but there is a lot packed in.  My favourite section was the succulent and cacti rooms - mainly because I am #basic but also because they were bloody massive!

There were other rooms, buildings and an impressive walled garden to explore.  It was a really fun and interesting afternoon activity.

In terms of price, it was also surprisingly affordable for a University of Oxford outing (I'm looking at you Christchurch, etc.).  The tickets were only £5.45 each for the day.  There wasn't much to do except from the garden and a wee coffee truck but I thought it was pretty reasonable.

My secret top tip for the botanic garden is also that they sell amazing plants for great prices!  As a millennial who can't resist a stereotype I was pleased to find some great and unusual plants for far cheaper than high street shops!

Have you visited the University of Oxford botanic gardens?  What did you think?
