Cattedrale di Palermo, Cathedral Views

If you ever visit the wonderful city of Palermo in Sicily, Italy you definitely should climb the steps of the Cathedral - also known as Cattedrale di Palermo.

The actual Cathedral is lovely, however the main event has to be the views from the roof!  There's a really nice and not too steep climb up the steeple and on to the roof.

When you're up there you can walk along the walkway and then around one of the huge domes.  Fun fact, as you walk around Palermo you will see a lot of architectural inspirations from different time periods, from Gothic to Arabic.  That's due to the history of the island and all the different times its been conquered and invaded.

So there are actually lots of Christian churches with Islamic details, particularly Qubbas (domes)!

The view from up there is lovely, particularly overlooking the older parts of the city.  I also loved being able to see some of the tiles in greater detail!
