Miradouro do Guindaste View Point, Madeira

One of the key things to look out for when you visit Madeira, is a cheeky wee symbol that appears on some signs - a viewpoint sign!  There are loads of them around and we tried to stop at as many as possible.

However, I think my favourite stop we made was Miradouro do Guindaste - it was stunning!

There was a really fun double skywalk (probably the best one we went to), where you can get some great views and photos overlooking the cliffs and sea below.

Then, down a nearby path - there was a great peninsula with a view out over the cliffs.

THEN (yes there's more), don't forget to look back up from the viewing point at the coast and enjoy the village views.  This is key for most viewpoints, don't just look out - look everywhere!

This is a pretty new and modernised view point - it is down a steep deadend road, with a roundabout at the bottom and not that many carparks.  Probably 6 or 7 in total.  Not many, but due to the location I don't think you would get tour busses or the safari drivers there.  So I think if you are in your own hire car it's pretty accessible and so many photo opportunities in the same vicinity.

Isn't it great?  We went to plenty of Madeira spots so this is the first of many blog posts to come!

  1. Very interesting, thanks for the recommendation. I like to travel myself, and also hunt. For this I bought https://www.atneu.uk/thermal-monoculars. Now I have a thermal imaging monocular with a laser rangefinder, which helps me track down prey perfectly. The model is new and cool!
