My First Country Girls UK Event - Tuition at Westlands Country Park

I recently attended my first ever event with The Country Girls UK, and thought I would share my experiences in case anyone was sitting on the fence about attending one! 

It can be a bit daunting attending an event with new people, especially if you are trying something new to you.  However, if this tuition event at Westlands Country Park in Dumfries and Galloway is anything to go by, there really is nothing to worry about!  The group of girls was super great and friendly, we were hosted by NW Ambassador Caz who did a great job on the day of getting us to the right place at the right time! 

This event was a tuition event and was open to all levels, from people who had never shot before to experienced girls with our own kit.  So we were split into different ability groups of four people, each with our own instructor and headed around the grounds after some bacon rolls.

It was a nice mix of ages and everyone was excited to be meeting new people and shooting.  It was super supportive, cheering eachother on and supporting when we hit a trickier shot. 

The tuition itself was split with a coffee break and some lunch.  The instructor we had was great and the team at Westlands was great - as you probably know, I really like shooting there as a local ground to me! 

We finished the day with a mixed team flush - my first time doing one and it was fun!  Can't wait until my first sim day with CGUK in May as I'm sure it'll be along the same vibes - lots of clays and a bit overwhelming to start with!  But it was great fun and my team actually won, so I got to take home a Westlands cap and some cartridges (as well as a lovely wee gift from CGUK).   

If you are thinking of attending a CGUK event, I can't urge you enough to just go for it!  I had a great time and can't wait to go to more and try to get better at this shotgun malarkey - I must say, you can definitely tell I am a rifle girl by trade when it comes to high birds!
