Talisker Beach, Isle of Skye

 

Talisker Beach on the Isle of Skye is a wonderful beach with dramatic scenery which makes it perfect for all weathers! 

If you would like to visit, there is a very small parking area at the end of the road near the farm.  We put "Talisker" into the satnav and kept driving until we ran out of road - make sure you are going for the steading/settlement rather than the distiller.  However, the parking is very limited and make sure you don't block acess for the farm steading - we did see a lot of inappropriate parking when we had returned and leaving. 

Once you are parked, walk around the big house and onto a path through a track through a field.  We saw sheep, so keep dogs on leads as usual.

Once you reach the beach you know it!  When the tide is out there is apparently a good stretch of sand.  However, the tide was in for us so it was mostly pebbles and rocks.  We didn't mind because it was stormy so we weren't swimming anyway! 

The stormy weather really made Talisker beach super dramatic.  The bay is a fantastic shape, with loads of details to enjoy.  To the left there is a sea stack and dramatic cliffs.  

The highlight for me is the right hand side - with a beautiful waterfall.  One of my favourite things to see is when waterfalls go wild and start flowing to the side or even upwards, defying gravity!  I wasn't disappointed!
