How to Take Iconic Glenfinnan Viaduct Photos - Train Photo Spot

Glenfinnan Viaduct has always been an iconic photo spot, and when it was immortalised as the Hogwarts Express in Harry Potter its status only increased.

Luckily this is a pretty easy photo to take, as long as you know a couple of tricks!

Where to park for Glenfinnan Viaduct?

Luckily, there is a convenient car park at PH37 4LT (and brown signs to follow when near).  However, the car park is pretty small so I would recommend getting there early if you are trying to catch a train for your photo.

You need to pay to park so remember to buy a ticket.

Where to take the photo?

There are a number of different viewpoints to see the viaduct.  However, if you want this angle in this photo (the iconic one in my opinion) you have to avoid the obvious and very big signs in the car park.

Instead, leave the car park, turn right and walk along the main road.

Cross the bridge.

Once the bridge is crossed, immediately turn right and walk around the gate and up the path.

Follow the path until you reach the viaduct itself.

Then at the viaduct, turn left and walk up to get the height needed to get above the viaduct.

There are a number of photo spots on the path, so pick your place and enjoy!

There it is - super easy and great photos!
