A Snowy Few Days in The Cairngorms

In February we headed off to the Cairngorms for a few days - we were primarily there because Matty was undertaking a Mountain Skills course.  I was taking the time to do some university work as I had a paper and a conference the next week. 

After the course was done we had a couple more days which we enjoyed from our Air BnB and weathering Storm Ciara and the weather bomb that hit! 

We really wanted to head up to the plateau when we visited the Cairngorm Reindeer Centre, but unfortunately due to the weather it was closed.  Instead we saw these cuties in the paddock at the centre.

Walking around Loch Morlich was really quite surreal, with the snow covering the sand but the waves still lapping on the shore. 

We also did the walk to the Green Loch (An Lochan Uaine) but made the tactical error of taking the high path in the middle of a snowstorm.  This meant we had to take it pretty slow because there was no real path in a lot of areas! 

I was also terribly disappointed because the Green Loch was very un-green for my liking!
