Mourne Seafood Bar - Dundrum Review

If you have been to dinner with me in real life and there was seafood on the dinner, I will have probably chosen it.

I'm a seafood fiend and unfortunately spend most of my time in the landlocked shires of the south east of England these days.  This means that there isn't a great selection of seafood to sample.

However, when I'm by the coast I will hunt out great places to eat seafood!

When we were in Northern Ireland last September I carefully planned our visit to include a stop at the Mourne Seafood Bar in Dundrum when they were running a Lobster Night.

I love lobster and I love lobster even more when it's £22.50 for a whole lobster!  Mourne's lobster was buttery and served with some delicious chip shop style chips!

Matty didn't have lobster, he doesn't like seafood (it's a miracle we're still together, I know) but there is one non-fishy option on the menu and that's a £30 steak.  Matty still attests that this is the best steak he's ever had - and we both recognise the irony of the best steak being found in a seafood restaurant.

Before we had these mains we (read I) knocked back some delicious oysters, which were no frills or fancy toppings but bloody good!

The restaurant itself is rustic and full of coastal art which gives a no frills but welcoming atmosphere.  Overall we had a smashing meal and some awesome lobster at a really reasonable price after a good day of hiking nearby!  There is also a branch in Belfast which is probably a little fancier but also good, we'll try and check it out next time!

Do you like lobster?  If you don't I'm not sure we can be friends.... only joking please stay and follow me on Instagram.
