Cocktails At Forgans, St Andrews

Now on to the second stop of my St Andrews cocktail tour, if you missed my first one on The Vic you can catch up here.  All thanks to VisitStAndrews, where you will be able to see my original post.

Our next stop was Forgans, with its rustic chic interior and reputation for food and drinks with a fun twist including their weekly celidhs.

Forgan's was really busy so we were squished up in the bar while we sipped cock-ales- where ales are added to the cocktails instead of the usual lemonades or juices. There are four to pick from which are between £5.50 to £6.50, but don't worry it doesn't taste like you're drinking a pint!

First the Bitter Fruit Cock-ale

This contained the most delicious liqueur: Aivy Pear Strawberry and Mint Vodka.  So delicious!  It was paired with St Germain Elderflower liqueur, cranberry juice and topped up with Schiehallion ale.  It was a really summery drink and tasted just like home made lemonade - sweet but sharp.

Then we had a Pearberry
The Pearberry was such an interesting cocktail, and I have decided that more things should really have a pear flavour!  The pear flvour came from Xante, a pear cognac, and was mixed with Chambord, lemon juice and some sugar syrup and was topped up with Deuchars IPA.

It was really nice and reminded me how much I liked pears, although Sophie who was accompanying me from Chef To Impress declared, "I don't think I've ever tasted a pear".  I know, seriously!  Someone get this girl a pear, preferably from Marks & Spencers because they are the best!

Stay tuned for my next stops on the Cocktail Tour!
